This year marked another impressive and special year of the Namagabi SS Independence charity 2022 in Kayunga District Uganda. Namagabi SS which was formed in 1984 as a Muslim founded school is well known for it’s academedic excellence, one of the largest schools in Uganda and now for it’s heart of gold of giving back to the community every 9th October, a day when Uganda got her Independence from the British colonial government in 1962.

Sunday 9th October, 2022 marked 60 years of Uganda’s Independence since the British handed over power to the people of Uganda known as the pearl of Africa and also a British protectorate saw Namagabi SS who were joined by it’s old students carry out their annual Independence Day Charity event. This should be noted that this was the biggest and special charity day event ever carried out by the school as it’s old boys and girls of the school turned up in large numbers making it special and colourful.

Why 9th October?

Namagabi SS carries or conducts it’s charitable event on every 9th October of each year because of the following;

  • It is the day when Uganda got its Independence
  • It is a day when almost every Ugandan is free from work
  • Namagabi believes that before you seek anything from God, it should be accompanied by a good deed (When candidates donate to the sick people, do community work, they can ask from God to bless them and be with them while in their final exams and have better results)

What makes this year’s Independence Day Charity Special?

This year Namagabi SS had a number of activities which included; Charity, Old Students reunion, fundraising, and the current students of the school had an opportunity to share the same meal with the old students.

Chairman Old Students Mr. Ssemakula Sulaiman

The old students of the school are of great pillar as their contributions to the school are absolutely endless, when they come back to their school, they inspire a lot of the current students to also read hard in order to be someone in the nearby future, old students also not only inspire students but also in a well thoughtful way they help provide employment opportunities to fellow former students of the school hence bridging on the gap of unemployment among youths.
